The top-seeded team in the play-in, fnatic Rising, won the final match of the gauntlet to qualify for the LAN in Kyiv.
fnatic Rising have punched their ticket to the WePlay Academy League Season 1 Finals, becoming the fourth and final team to get a berth at the $88,000 LAN event slated for August 27-29 in Kyiv, Ukraine, where they will join MOUZ NXT, Young Ninjas and BIG Academy, the three top teams from the group stage.
To secure their spot, the top-seeded fnatic Rising had to overcome NAVI Junior, a team they traded maps with in the group stage, in the final series of the play-in after VP.Prodigy eliminated Astralis Talent and the Russian quintet was in turn knocked out by Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov and company before the final match of the play-in.

The final play-in match started off on Overpass, fnatic Rising’s pick, and it was the international squad who got on a roll as the attackers, giving up a measly three rounds before switching sides.
m0NESY and Eugene "Aunkere" Karyat, by far NAVI Junior’s biggest play makers on this map, were able to make their frags much more impactful on the terrorist side as they helped their team bring Overpass back to an incredibly close 12-14, but Iulian "regali" Harjău and company found the answer on the defense to close it out 16-12.
NAVI Junior then went down 0-3 on Ancient, a map that was considered a punish pick by them, although they quickly recovered with rifles to go up 8-3 on the attack. fnatic Rising didn't let up, however, and fought their way back to a tight 6-9 half, leaving the map wide open.
The international squad once again took the pistols to keep gaining ground on the scoreboard all the way to a 9-9 tie, after which they gained the lead heading into the late stages of the map, up 14-12 once again. They then forced their way into the B site with only pistols to hit match point, going on to take the map 16-13 and securing a spot at the LAN finals in Kyiv.
